The Middle East is always in a state of turmoil, but our pilgrimage to the Holy Land begins in 4 days. I just finished Sandy Tolan’s book, The Lemon Tree, the true story of a Palestinian family forced to leave Ramallah during “the disaster” of 1948. The home in which they lived was later occupied by a Jewish family who brings love and life to the home in the midst of many struggles. The book gives a heart-wrenching explanation of the Arab-Israeli conflict and a clear understanding of the reason both Jewish and Palestinian citizens think the land belongs to them. It will be such an amazing experience to walk in this land and follow its spirit and history.
